It is vital to lean in and embrace new technologies – even if they might initially seem absurd. This is the view of Steven Bartlett, who gave a keynote presentation at the recent London Blockchain Conference.
As a successful entrepreneur and host of The Diary of a CEO podcast, Bartlett shared how he once viewed blockchain and digital currencies with scepticism, particularly after seeing the exorbitant prices of NFTs.
However, recalling how others had dismissed his early ventures into social media, he decided to invest in an NFT, despite losing $200,000. This experience taught him valuable lessons about the disruptive potential of blockchain technology.
Since then, Bartlett has deepened his involvement in blockchain, launching a Web 3.0 studio, ThirdWeb, to leverage innovative technology for creating value and driving change. He believes blockchain gaming is a particularly promising area, predicting it will revolutionise the industry by empowering players with ownership and the ability to earn as they play.
Bartlett suggests that blockchain, like the Internet, will eventually become an invisible yet integral part of our lives, emphasising the need for more user-friendly applications and better education for developers.
In his view, success in the blockchain space requires focusing on what’s better, cheaper, and faster, rather than being swayed by speculative token prices.
BSV blockchain and the new Internet
As Internet-based services and applications continue to expand rapidly, the standards that support the global network have evolved to accommodate billions of connected devices and users worldwide. A notable example of this evolution is the adoption of IPv6, an Internet Layer protocol standard that provides each connected device with a unique 128-bit IP address.
Despite IPv6‘s clear advantages, its adoption has been slow due to the significant infrastructure changes required. The BSV blockchain stands out as the only public blockchain scalable enough to meet the demands of enterprise-scale applications. It is designed to function as an Internet extension, enabling peer-to-peer payments and complex data transfers without intermediaries.
Furthermore, the BSV blockchain’s versatility allows it to integrate with a spectrum of advanced technologies to amplify their capabilities:
- IoT with Blockchain: Connecting Internet of Things (IoT) devices with blockchain enables the creation of immutable records of data exchanges, enhancing trust and efficiency.
- Combining AI with Blockchain: Integrating Artificial Intelligence with blockchain improves decision-making processes while ensuring data provenance and integrity.
- Integrating Blockchain with Robotics and Drones: When robotics and drones are combined with blockchain, they can perform complex tasks with increased security and traceability.
- Enabling Nanotechnology with Blockchain: Blockchain technology allows for secure recording and monitoring of precise nanotechnology applications in science and medicine.
- Sensors and Cameras on a Blockchain Infrastructure: Linking sensors and cameras to blockchain networks ensures the data they capture is tamper-proof and reliable.
