Putting agriculture on blockchain

Agriculture forms the foundation of our society, embracing a variety of crops, livestock, and agricultural goods. It supports livelihoods, feeds communities, and propels economies forward. UNISOT’s AgriOnchain solution is designed to uphold these principles, guaranteeing transparency and adherence to regulations throughout the agricultural supply chain.

UNISOT is a Web3 supply-chain traceability platform which uses the BSV blockchain to help global supply chains for everything from food to clothes, electronics and cars, says Stephan Nilsson, Founder and CEO of UNISOT.

UNISOT – which stands for ‘universal source of truth’ – provides global interoperability which means that all of the companies in the global supply chain can interact and send information to one another in a very secure and cost-efficient way.

Data capture and tracking

Speaking at the recent DATE conference in India, Nilsson explained that the agriculture industry faces unique challenges in ensuring the transparency and traceability of its products. UNISOT addresses this by recording and securely storing transactions on an immutable blockchain ledger. This creates a transparent, auditable, and tamper-proof trail, from the moment seeds are sown to the products’ arrival at the hands of consumers.

This includes end-to-end traceability and transparency within the agriculture supply chain. From the sourcing of raw materials to the final delivery of products, you can confidently highlight the journey of your agricultural goods, offering customers the peace of mind they deserve.

Automation and regulatory compliance

UNISOT simplifies the often-complex agriculture labelling process by integrating digital technologies and blockchain. Its solution ensures that accurate and up-to-date labelling information is easily accessible to farmers, manufacturers and retailers, promoting consistency and compliance.

UNISOT also enables secure data capture at every stage of the agriculture supply chain. By adopting a Universal Source of Truth approach, its platform consolidates information on a distributed global data layer, fostering trust-based collaborations among all stakeholders.

Its platform also automates documentation, streamlining the compliance process. With AgriOnChain, you can ensure that your products consistently meet the necessary industry standards, gaining credibility and trust from regulatory authorities and customers alike.

UNISOT’s digital passports

Nilsson explained that this is possible through UNISOT’s digital passport platform. The digital product passport (DPP) supports the new EU proposal on Sustainable Product Regulation including the “EU Digital Product Passport”.

Under the new regulation, the DPP must ensure that all actors along the value chain, including consumers, economic operators and national authorities, can access product information relevant to them, as well as include the necessary data attributes to enable the tracking of all substances of concern throughout the life cycle of the product.
