Going beyond payments with Centbee

Since its establishment in 2016, Centbee has acted as a portal for millions of users to harness the capabilities of the BSV blockchain. Through its accessible BSV wallet, Centbee empowered individuals to seamlessly send and utilise digital currency, facilitating transactions both domestically and globally.

However, Centbee has also continued to grow and evolve over this time and now offers far more than simple payment capabilities, says Lorien Gamaroff (Co-Founder and CEO of Centbee). He noted that the latest version of Centbee has come with a visual refresh and users can now also top up their wallets with BSV directly in Nigeria.

‘We have improved the payment requests module so that when you send payment requests to other of your contacts, you’ll be able to see them. And then we have also added other usability features like being able to search and filter your transactions and your notifications as well. So lots of little tweaks here and there,’ he said.

Expanding into Nigeria and other parts of Africa

Gamaroff noted that a core part of Centbee’s strategy is continued growth and expansion into Nigeria and the rest of Africa. Key to this is building new partnerships with companies in the region, he said.

‘So one of the important partnerships we have is with a company called FusePay here in Nigeria. And, they’re the ones who allow us to perform the service of topping up your wallet. And, of course, we are always looking for other partners in different countries because, at the moment, what we have is a lot of ways that you can spend your BSV.

‘In most countries around the world, we’ve got quite an extensive catalogue of gift cards that you can spend your BSV on. You can recharge your phone. You can buy things like Uber and Steam and shop at McDonald’s. So we have covered a lot of that in terms of spending.

‘But, one of the things we need to still work on is ways that people can still top up their wallets in other countries. And this is going to be something that we, we constantly, work on, as we move along,’ he said.

A new partnership with Centi

Centbee’s payment network is set to expand further through a new strategic alliance with Centi. In a bid to bolster its offerings and broaden its influence, Centbee has partnered with Centi, a web3 payment infrastructure startup.

This collaboration, with the Swiss-based Centi, paves the way for Swiss customers to utilise blockchain technology in sending funds to Africa and potentially Europe. This venture underscores blockchain’s capacity to provide innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

This partnership enriches Centbee’s diverse array of services, now spanning thousands of products across approximately 86 countries. The Swiss partnership further amplifies its global reach. Users can now leverage their Centbee wallets for various purposes, from remitting funds to family members to procuring essential digital commodities like airtime and electricity.
