BSV Blockchain is pleased to announce that it will sponsor the upcoming OnlyDust open-source week. The week will take place online from 24 October – 3 November 2024 and will act as a terrific showcase of the value proposition of building on the BSV blockchain.
The open-source week is open to all developers over the legal age of majority in all regions, excluding standard exceptions. We invite people meeting the following criteria to consider signing up and submitting your entry:
- Developers who are already coding on the BSV blockchain;
- Developers who are coding on a different blockchain;
- Non-blockchain developers who have a keen interest in the BSV blockchain.
Contributors need to sign up on OnlyDust and register here to participate in the week-long event.
What to expect
- On this page, you will find the latest information on the event taking place. The page will detail the step-by-step procedure and the projects that are participating. Community calls will be organised before the ODHack begins, so stay tuned via the Telegram group or on the page itself.
- The hackathon lasts around 10 days. All work must be finalised by the tenth day. Maintainers then have an extra two days to review the final work and merge PRs. The first few days are when it is important to be available and reactive to get issues assigned and ready to tackle.
- On day one, contributors will be able to look at the issues available from all projects and apply them to those that they believe they can tackle. Contributors are highly recommended that when they apply, they introduce themselves and how they plan on tackling the issue.
- Maintainers can then review and see who to assign the issue to, according to the profile that best fits. When contributors are assigned, they can start working on the issue. Eligible contributions during the hackathon will be rewarded and each project will manage its rewards.
Open-source week to demonstrate the power of the BSV blockchain
‘This hackathon will demonstrate how and why the BSV blockchain stands apart from other competing blockchain projects,’ said Brett Banfe (Head of Community at BSV Blockchain). ‘This includes its scalability, immutability, and microtransaction capabilities among other features,’ he said.
‘This event will also allow BSV Blockchain to showcase recent libraries such as TypeScript, Python, GoLang and other network features. Our goal is not only to highlight what developers build, but to showcase why they build it.’
