Bringing the BSV blockchain to the Middle East with Silverline

BSV Blockchain recently had the opportunity to sit down with Rami El Sabeh (co-founder of Silverline) to discuss his work, why he chose to become a BSV Ambassador and discuss some of the exciting projects he has planned.

Silverline aims to leverage the social and technological dimensions of blockchain to create meaningful impact. With a robust ecosystem of partners—ranging from peers and communities to governments, companies, and organisations across diverse industries—it focuses on driving innovation and progress within the MENA region.

The edited interview can be found below.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and Silverline?

So I am Rami El Sabeh and I am originally Lebanese and come from a technical background where I was a telecommunications engineer. But then I went into more of a network infrastructure direction before landing in cloud security. Within Silverline, I am the Technical and Governance Director and I am also working on a governmental project as a Technical Sales Manager.

At Silverline, we are trying to bring blockchain and Web3 to the MENA region. Our company is based in Dubai and we try to focus on the entire region by offering different solutions in this space.

Can you talk about your recent appearance on MTV Lebanon and what you discussed?

The discussion began with the evolution of the web, highlighting how the internet started as a read-only medium and facilitated traditional media (print, radio, TV). It then moved forward to Web 2.0, how the network evolved, became faster, and introduced more platforms and social media, which impacted traditional media by providing users with read and write capabilities and influencing public sentiment towards news.

Throughout this evolution, two main challenges affected all industries: data privacy and cybersecurity. This means that Web 3.0 must focus on solving these issues through blockchain and peer-to-peer communication. The discussion then shifted to the impact that blockchain has had on cybersecurity and simplifying data communication – and I cited examples from travel where people and data move from one country to another, and airport security handles checking, authentication, authorisation, and accounting.

The conversation then shifted to the impact of blockchain on governmental and banking sectors, which are exploring CBDCs and stablecoins and their effects on payment services.

In conclusion, I noted that people, governments, and enterprises should focus on the utility of blockchain rather than speculative cryptocurrency. Web 3.0 is a requirement for a blockchain that must be scalable to handle a large number of transactions and the cost of transactions needs to be very low. Adoption requires efforts and sponsorship to facilitate education and awareness programs.

What are you currently working on at Silverline?

So we have one running project which is a platform focusing on the healthcare sector. We are also running several initiatives with the BSV ecosystem in the MENA region including GITEX in Dubai.

Other than that, within Silver Line, we are also working on multiple types of projects that are not only involved with blockchain but focus on broader digitisation, digital transformation, cybersecurity and AI solutions.

What made you become a BSV Ambassador?

I came from a background in network infrastructure and telecommunication and I began to realise that there should be a new system which can govern this infrastructure system that we have. So I started learning more from around 2014 and then I took around five years of studying just to understand what this technology is about. This is where I fell into the topic of scalability – which is the most interesting part of blockchain and how many transactions it can handle.

We started getting into contact with parties such as TAAL, nChain and other players in the BSV ecosystem. We also started attending events in the ecosystem and eventually started sponsoring them. We also spoke to top players in the MENA region just to push a new topic around blockchain and that it’s no longer about crypto.

And this is how we embedded ourselves within the community and we are still following it. And we believe this technology is going to drive, you know, the future of blockchain, especially based on the scalability levels of it.
