Guiding users through web3 with HandCash

HandCash is one of the most popular wallets in the BSV ecosystem thanks to its focus on simplicity. Since its inception, HandCash has focused on delivering the best solutions for payments. Over the last year, however, the makers of the wallet have also moved to become the go-to solution for web3 applications and connected digital economies.

Brett Banfe, Community Manager for the BSV Blockchain Association recently interviewed Brandon Cryderman, Head of Business Development for Metaverse wallet, HandCash, to discuss the latest developments of HandCash and what the team is working on right now.

HandCash is listening to user’s needs

In the context of implementing a web3 solution, Cryderman stresses that the biggest consideration was if their users want it. Over the years, this approach has been a major guiding principle for HandCash and is one of the reasons HandCash is a clean and easy-to-use solution for handling payments. To this day, the creators of the wallet have not moved away from this principle.

Venturing into web3, Crydermna identifies the need for people to be independent of any wallet they use and to freely transact their NFTs, Cryderman gives his view to this as follows:

‘It’s very important for people to feel that their token isn’t bound to the wallet. They’re holding it in meaning that they can take their assets anywhere they want, and they don’t need permission from anyone to do that. People see the freedom that they gain from that sort of set-up.’

He goes on to talk about the portability aspect of NFTs and about the challenge of working it into the existing infrastructure of HandCash, which they ultimately met. This user-centric approach also plays a role in the onboarding process before users have their wallets. Instead of overloading new users with educational material, HandCash lets users explore and experience opportunities themselves.

Guiding users through web3

Cryderman also discussed the focus on improving user experience and addressing the onboarding challenges faced by web3 platforms. By integrating NFTs into their system, they can offer the same benefits with an added layer of NFT functionality. One of the problems they identified in the industry is the difficulty of onboarding new users who don’t have a wallet.

To illustrate this, Cryderman uses the example of a video game where users need to download a wallet extension, learn about wallets, and go through various steps before they can start playing. This process hinders the entry of casual users who simply want to have fun.

HandCash, on the other hand, employs a server-side architecture, which sets them apart from most web3 platforms that use a client-side architecture. This approach allows them to offer app-created wallets, where users can sign up with an email and password. Through a verification code sent to their email, users are seamlessly provided with a wallet associated with the application.

This process integrates smoothly with existing email verification procedures, eliminating additional steps. This achievement is crucial for web3 apps to ensure a consistent user experience. Then later on users can explore the functionalities of NFTs, web3, marketplaces and the HandCash wallet for themselves.

Apps and games that are part of the HandCash ecosystem

Brandon Cryderman mentions several upcoming apps that HandCash is integrated with. Bitsurf is a social media platform with a fresh and fun feel. Users will have ordinal-powered themes, and as you scroll through the timeline, you can see each user’s theme, adding a gamified element to the social network experience.

Omniscape by Transmira is building an AR/VR digital world based on real-world locations, featuring actual 3D renders of existing places. It offers the opportunity to explore virtual versions of real-world landmarks like the sea tower. Additionally, Transmira/Omniscape will incorporate digital items into their platform that can be given functions in real life e.g. serving as vouchers.

FYX Gaming is developing a game called CryptoFights, where players engage in one-on-one combat in a skill-based, turn-based format. The game has a premium look and feel and is one of the most played games in the crypto gaming category.

The Head of Business Development demonstrates one platform in more detail, which is Haste Arcade. If you would like to see Cryderman’s demo, you can do so in the recording of the interview:
